Athletic Sites

Scottish Heavy Athletics: This is Tony Dziepak's site and it is chock full of great information you want to know, including, but not limited to, making your own practice implements and kilt sewing.  Everyone new to the sport should go here first!

North American Scottish Games Athletics: The most important web resource you'll need for participating in the highland games is NASGA.  From the most comprehensive calendar of games to athletic scores and rankings to rules, it is, quite literally, the center of the North American highland games' universe.  Everyone new to the sport should here second.

Ancient Athletics: Based out of Springfield, IL, Ancient Athletics is the most prolific games organization in the midwest, if not the continent.  Good people who put on excellent games and well worth knowing.

Pipe Bands

City of Rockford Pipe Band: Pipers & heavy athletics go together like brisket and smoke, and these folk are especially complimentary.  A fine band with fine people.

Strength Training

Atlas Gym: Rhett Bobzein is not only a friend but an amazing athlete.  A former pro wrestler (under the pseudonym "the Berlin Bomber"), Rhett is a consummate entertainer.  Currently, Rhett is a world record holder of the team truck pull.  If you're in the Kenosha, WI area, & you're looking to get stronger, go to Atlas Gym.

Celtic Organizations

Clothiers

Thistle and Clover: They're strong supporters of the games, but their stuff isn't for rolling around in the dirt.  These folk are genuine haberdashers.  Kilts, jackets, shoes, jewelry... if you are dressing to impress Kilt & Thistle has what you need.

Sportkilt: If you're gonna compete, your gonna need a kilt.  It's a "dress" code, if you like.  As dress wool kilts cost hundreds of dollars and can be exceedingly hot during a game, Sportkilt offers kilts made of synthetic fibers and at a fraction of the cost.  A big plus, given the abuse our kilts will take in a season.  They also offer accessories, like socks & flashes.

Stillwater Kilts: Another outlet offering affordable wool and synthetic kilts and accessories.

Vendors

Kilt & Clover: Linda has been a friend of our organization from the beginning, and has supported us through sponsorship in the past.  Her store has a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, & food from the Isles.

Photography

Rick Kramer: Rick's a fellow athlete & friend who truly has a gift.  Check out his site.  You'll see what I mean.

Curtis Clegg: We made Curtis' acquaintance at the games we threw at Cherry Valley Days in Cherry Valley, IL.  Great photographer who took some real nice shots of us.  I have a sample set he sent us on the gallery page, but a more complete set, as well as some more of his work, can be found here.
